In the 11th Episode of our Performance Concepts Chat we speak with the Director of Performance for the University of Michigan football program — Fergus Connolly. Bringing a broad range of experience with high performance team sports in soccer, rugby, Australian football and cricket, Fergus came to North America to provide assistance to American Football working with the San Francisco 49’ers. Ultimately, Fergus found a home in Ann Arbor, Michigan with the Wolverines working for Coach Jim Harbaugh.
Fergus speaks specifically about his soon to be released book, “Game Changer”. The book looks at all of the key elements required to achieve success in team sport, dividing the analysis into four main components:
1. The Game
2. The Player
3. The Training
4. The Team
“Game Changer” also dispels many myths about what determines success for a team or individual athlete. Fergus delves deep into the science behind many common beliefs and provides a more comprehensive approach to tapping into the full potential of both athletes and coaches in a team sport environment. You will find this is one of the most comprehensive books on athlete and team preparation that has been written to date. While some may prefer to read it cover-to-cover, others can use it as a reference book of sorts to address specific needs at any given time. All-in-all, a great conversation with Fergus that will make you even more curious about how to be a game changer in your sport or profession.
