This episode of our Performance Concepts Chat is with one of the top sport movement experts in North America – Coach Loren Landow. I had the pleasure of meeting Loren back in October of 2016 at an incredible iFast Summit hosted by Mike Robertson and Bill Hartman. Fortunately, I was also able to present alongside Loren at his own Landow Performance facility in early April of 2017 – thanks to PLAE and Coach Ron McKeefery – and had more chances to share thoughts and ideas on speed and movement. It only made sense to have Coach Landow on the podcast to dig deeper into the evolution of his career and his craft.
In our discussion, we spend a good deal of time talking about Loren’s specific work with football combine preparation, as well as how he prepares athletes in the NFL off-season as well as some key workouts provided during the in-season period. Loren’s expertise is truly his ability to put movement training into a context that can be easily digested and perfected by his athletes. While some coaches make movement concepts complex and difficult to apply, Loren communicates on a level that athletes can truly understand and implement for performance benefits, overall health and career longevity. We also hear how Loren adapts his coaching approach for other sports including Mixed Martial Arts and Swimming athletes, while adhering to the same principles of movement quality and mechanical efficiency. All in all, a very enjoyable and informative conversation with Coach Loren Landow.
Loren Landow can be reached on Twitter via @LorenLandow. You can also visit the website for his training facility at LandowPerformance.com If you get a chance, I encourage you to connect with Loren to expand your understanding of the movement coaching process and how transfer of skills can occur more readily, with greater retention of skills.
